Job Purpose: As a Plumbing Technician at Arab Inspire, your primary responsibility is to review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials. You will be tasked with identifying required tools and special equipment, selecting the appropriate type and size of pipe, and locating positions for connections and fixtures. Your role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining various plumbing systems and fixtures while ensuring compliance with building codes and relevant legislation.
Job Context: Special Duties: In addition to your core responsibilities, you will be expected to administer and schedule work efficiently, ensuring timely completion of tasks. You will also be responsible for testing pipe systems and fixtures for leaks, as well as maintaining underground storm sanitary and water piping systems.
Communications & Working Relationships (Internal & External): Internally, you will collaborate closely with other members of the maintenance team and liaise with supervisors to coordinate tasks effectively. Externally, you may interact with vendors to procure materials and equipment required for plumbing projects.
Frameworks, Boundaries & Decision-Making Authority: Within the scope of your role, you have the authority to make decisions regarding the selection of appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for plumbing installations and repairs. However, major decisions may require approval from your supervisor or higher management.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills: To excel in this role, you should possess:
• A high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• 2-5 years of experience in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of building codes, installation requirements, and relevant legislation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Review building plans and specifications to determine plumbing layout.
2. Identify and procure required tools and special equipment.
3. Install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls.
4. Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks and ensure compliance with regulations.
5. Administer and schedule plumbing work efficiently.
6. Collaborate with team members and external vendors as needed.
7. Maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems.
8. Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim.
9. Uphold safety standards and adhere to relevant legislation at all times.
