A Planning Engineer plays a critical role in the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of projects to ensure they are executed efficiently and on schedule. The role involves developing and maintaining project schedules, analyzing data and providing recommendations to optimize project management.
Responsible for project planning, scheduling, and monitoring activities. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules and plans, considering scope, resources, and constraints.
Scheduling: Create detailed project schedules, incorporating milestones, deadlines, and deliverables. Ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
Resource Allocation: Assist in the allocation of resources (human, equipment, materials) and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure availability.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and report on project progress, identify delays, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize project disruptions.
Data Analysis: Analyze project data to assess performance, forecast future progress, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Reporting: Prepare and present project status reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators.
Cost Control: Collaborate with the project management team to ensure project costs align with budgets and financial goals.
Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs while assessing their impact on the project timeline.
Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and historical data for lessons learned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) may be preferred.
Several years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and management, with a focus on large-scale projects, preferably in the oil and gas industry or a related field.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of industry best practices and project management standards.
Aramco experience is highly preferable
