Excavator Operator

Requirements :

Education - Either High School Diploma or Equivalent, and Technical training or certification in heavy equipment operation.
Should have prior experience (at least 2 - 5 years) handling Excavator machinery like :

Excavator operators must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work in all weather conditions. They should also have good hand-eye co-ordination and be able to operate the controls with precision.
Operator must be familiar with safety procedures and protocols. Certification in Health and Safety will be an added advantage.
Operators should have basic understanding of the mechanical components of the excavator, as they maybe required to perform minor repairs or maintenance. He must also pay attention to details.
Must possess good communication skills.
Should hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and other necessary licenses and certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Operate excavators proficiently to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and loading/unloading of materials at construction sites, roadworks, and other projects .
Conduct pre-operational checks on the excavator to ensure all systems, controls, and attachments are in proper working condition, and address any issues promptly.
Interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand job requirements and execute tasks accurately and efficiently.
Maneuver the excavator skillfully to navigate various work environments, including tight spaces, uneven terrain, and around obstacles, while prioritizing safety and minimizing damage to property or utilities.
Collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, and fellow team members to coordinate workflow, prioritize tasks, and achieve project milestones effectively.
Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Monitor excavation depths, angles, and material quantities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the excavator, including greasing, oiling, and cleaning, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed, escalating complex issues to the maintenance team for resolution.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance activities for reporting and documentation purposes.
