The Container Equipment Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a container terminal, depot, or logistics company. This position is responsible for managing the movement and status of container handling equipment, such as straddle carriers, reach stackers, and yard trucks.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Management:
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
Monitor equipment location and utilization within the terminal or depot.
Assign equipment to operators based on task requirements and priorities.
Track equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate servicing needs.
Maintain accurate records of equipment status and usage data.
Logistics Coordination:
Coordinate equipment movement for loading, unloading, and yard operations of containers.
Liaise with terminal staff, such as truck drivers and yard workers, to ensure efficient equipment allocation.
Coordinate with Shipper and consignee for equipment return and monitor free time
Monitor free days and line detention and liase with the shipper and consignee for collection.
Prepare reports for long standing / in yard /off dock / with shipper / with consignee and track/highlight overdue containers
Monitor vessel schedules and adjust equipment deployment accordingly.
Track container movement within the depot/ terminal and update tracking systems.
Problem Solving:
Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues.
Develop contingency plans to address equipment delays.
Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding equipment availability.
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong understanding of container terminal operations and equipment
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
Computer literacy (Mandatory) with proficiency in relevant logistics software programs
Must be good with EXCEL
Language skills for communication
