Operate different types of cranes, such as mobile cranes, tower cranes, and offshore cranes, to perform lifting operations in accordance with project requirements and safety regulations.
Conduct pre-operational inspections of cranes, including checking controls, ropes, cables, and safety devices, to ensure equipment is in proper working condition before use.
Interpret lift plans, work orders, and safety procedures to understand specific lifting requirements, load capacities, and critical lift parameters.
Safely and accurately position crane booms, hooks, and attachments to lift and move heavy equipment, machinery, containers, and other loads.
Communicate with riggers, signalers, and other team members using established hand signals or radio communications to ensure safe and efficient crane movements.
Adhere to safety protocols and best practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), conducting safety briefings, and participating in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Monitor and assess load characteristics, wind conditions, and other environmental factors to adjust crane operations and ensure stability and safety during lifting operations.
Operate crane controls and coordinate movements with precision to lift, swing, and lower loads in a controlled manner, while maintaining situational awareness.
Inspect and maintain slings, hooks, blocks, and other rigging equipment for integrity and safety, reporting any defects or issues to supervisors.
Document and maintain accurate records of crane operations, including logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance records, and incident reports.
Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and transportation of cranes, ensuring compliance with manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines.
Follow established procedures for fueling, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance on cranes, and promptly report any mechanical issues or malfunctions.
Continuously update knowledge and skills in crane operations, rigging techniques, and relevant safety regulations through training and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and other team members to plan and execute lifting operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to project schedules.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and maintenance of crane accessories, tools, and equipment.
