Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to monitor, evaluate, and review our Health and Safety policies and practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local, national, and international regulations and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Policy Development: Develop, maintain, and update HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate these risks.
• Communication: Ensure that Health and Safety standards and procedures are effectively communicated to all employees.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, report findings to stakeholders, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Environmental Monitoring: Monitor the organization’s environmental performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and implementing initiatives for waste reduction, resource conservation, and pollution prevention.
• Audits and Compliance: Conduct internal and external audits to ensure adherence to HSE policies and regulations, addressing any non-compliance issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Stakeholder Interaction: Collaborate with NGOs, government officials, and professional bodies (e.g., Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Health, Civil Defense, Ministry of Environment) to meet HSE requirements.
• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain and enhance emergency preparedness and response plans, ensuring employees are trained to respond effectively to emergencies.
• Training Coordination: Organize and coordinate training programs to ensure employees possess necessary knowledge and awareness regarding HSE practices.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor HSE performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance overall safety, health, and environmental performance.
• HSE Ambassador: Act as an HSE Ambassador to foster a culture of safety, promoting open communication and collaboration among employees, management, and external stakeholders.
• Standard Compliance: Stay updated on ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) standards, ensuring their effective implementation.
• Committee Participation: Organize and participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings, contributing to discussions and recommending solutions in line with HSE protocols.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) are a plus.
• Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
